SPLIT BODY

I was given the opportunity to contribute soundscapes to the Split Body exhibition by French artists Virginnie Ittah and Kai Yoda (IttahYoda), which ran between 11 June - 20 July 2025 at Jakarta's ROH Projects gallery.
As per the artists' description, the exhibition's goal is to "interrogate the boundaries of the body and its multiplicities across physical, spiritual, and technological realms".
The piece I was commissioned for aimed to tackle these themes of boundary, splitting the light and the dark sounds into two separate channels (Left and Right) with an underlying tone that runs through both pieces. Each channel is then played separately during the exhibition behind each artist's works. When combined, it forms one complete piece that balances light and darkness as a whole.

The piece that ran at the exhibition was 35 minutes, but you can hear a condensed and combined 5-minute version on the player here. The condensed version is a collection of the sound sections that played throughout.

TRIO TRIO
A semi-improvisational experimental unit consisting of Dylan Amirio (electronics), Gilang Damar Setiadi (vocals/noise), and Aldo Ahmad (homemade percussion), since 2024.

Coming from different cultural backgrounds (Jakarta, Java, West Sumatra), TRIO TRIO presents a sound borne from their organic and naturally dialectical experiments derived from the influences of their different cultural upbringings. The result is a semi-improvised, chaotic, and noisy sound held up by Dylan's punishing beats and eerie ambiences, Gilang's noise-drenched screams, and Aldo's processed homemade percussion play.

The project has been debuted live at Pasar Santa Festival (Jakarta) and Jogja Noise Bombing Festival (Yogyakarta).
​
TRIO TRIO are currently recording their debut EP.

*Dylan is a member of experimental electronic project Logic Lost, Gilang helms the noise unit ASU(USA), and Aldo blends his Minang background and culture into electronic and traditional scapes as Sipaningkah.
